In Robert Frost’s poem, Mending Wall, he writes, “Good fences make good neighbours.”

In the East Village where the DI has stood for decades, good neighbours are built on good deeds, on sharing what we have to improve the lives of those around us who are struggling to get by. This holiday season, our neighbours and friends at the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC) have stepped forward for the second year in a row to make life easier for clients at the DI to go out to work properly outfitted. Their $500 donation is to be used to provide gloves and work boots to clients using our Labour Office. Included with each pair of boots is A Simple Christmas Wish, a poem written by Brenda Hager that touches hearts, tearing down fences that would keep us on separate sides of the street.

Thank you everyone at CMLC. You make good neighbours.
