Calgary Drop-In Centre Thanks the Community for Their Support During COVID-19
For the past few months, the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre (CTCC) was a satellite homeless shelter and for the past several weeks has been operating below capacity. As of June 30, the Calgary Drop-In Centre’s (the DI) shelter program will cease operations at the CTCC.
Since the pandemic began back in March, the DI has helped a total of 136 people find a home of their own, and more than 70 people are currently residing in the newly opened transitional housing program and actively working with DI staff to find their own home.
The DI is working with the homeless-serving system of care to ensure everyone who needs shelter, food and housing support has access to these supports.
