Mirela leads engineering and project controls functions at Gibson Energy. She brings 19 years of experience and leadership in strategy, innovation and portfolio management in the energy industry in Europe and Canada. An active volunteer, Mirela enjoys working with organizations that support the Calgary community: she is currently President on the board of Green Calgary and a board member of the Calgary Opera Association, and she has been volunteering with Alberta Children’s Hospital, Calgary Reads, and the YWCA in the past.

Mirela holds a Ph.D. in Engineering and an MBA from Laval University, and a Master’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Zagreb, Croatia. She is married and has two young daughters. She spends most of her free time with family, playing in one of the many Calgary playgrounds, traveling, or experimenting in the kitchen and garden.
