Dirty. Dangerous. Junkies. Crazy. Lazy. These are just a handful of the inaccurate and damaging stereotypes still held about homeless populations today. The Calgary Drop-In Centre has an emotional and informative experience that opens both the mind and the heart as community members learn about our people and our services.
Tour groups will be shown every floor of our main building, hear stories about our clients, see our programs in action, and have the opportunity to ask every question they can imagine in a safe and judgment free environment. The Calgary Drop-In Centre is passionate about its tour program and believes that the support of the community is required to impact homelessness and support the people affected by it.
Why do people actually become homeless? What is the largest demographic of people experiencing homelessness? What population is most overrepresented? And why? Learn the answers to all of these questions and more on a tour of our main building. The experience is sure to change you.
NOTE: Due to the overwhelming demand for our Tour Program, we are not currently accepting tour requests as they are booked through to the end of 2017. Please check back in the fall for future tour opportunities.
I am pretty impressed with the service provided by ESS especially when I consider the various circumstances beyond your control that you may have to contend with! It is a huge relief to NOT spend my time completing a bunch of forms every time I need casual labour or spend my money paying an employment service; I could not afford to do that!
What is really amazing to me is that is every bit as effective, and even more efficient in providing casual labour than the employment services that charge!
