Clothing Room Support

Clothing Room Volunteers allow homeless Calgarians to benefit from the constant flow of apparel donations the Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre receives from the community. By helping to stock our Free Clothing Store, they ensure our clients are able to stay warm and dry. These volunteers thrive on turning chaos into order. They are organized, efficient, and don’t mind a little bit of heavy lifting.

This is an idea role for anyone with retail experience, or anyone who is known for keeping a tidy closet. The added bonus is seeing the gratitude clients express as they find the sturdy winter coat that will get them through the winter or a comfortable pair of new shoes to replace the worn out ones they were wearing previously. Commitment time for individual volunteers is a minimum of one month.

Volunteer orientation attendance is required for this opportunity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this an activity my whole family can participate in?

Yes! We love volunteers of all ages in the clothing room but this activity is best for children over the age of eight.

What should I wear to volunteer in the clothing room?

Modest clothing and comfortable foot wear as you will be standing on your feet.

It's a very interesting experience at the Calgary Drop-In, and I think you have to be actually there to see what I mean. It's big, there's lots going on, there's all kinds of clients, and almost anything can happen. If you happen to enjoy giving back to the community, interacting with people from all walks of life, and overall making somebody's day a little bit brighter, then the Calgary Drop-IN is a great place to volunteer at.
